CV uses automated segmentation techniques to identify regions that are likely to correspond to players. The results obtained from a computer vision system can be augmented by applying machine learning and data mining techniques to the raw player tracking data. Once key elements in an image or video frame are detected, semantic information can be generated in order to create context on what actions the players are performing (i.e. ball possession, pass, run, defend, and so on).
