A computer understands instructions in the form of machine code, i.e., 0 and 1. The programs are written in English like a high-level language called source code. The source code must be converted into machine language in order to be executed. The translator program that is used to convert source programs written in a high-level language to machine code is called a language processor. The program translated into machine code is called the object program.
